Coca-Cola uses generative AI in its latest Christmas advert – InkSplat News

Ah, Christmas adverts. They happen every year, spreading joy, inspiration and laughs to the entire world. I already have a favourite this year (the Smyths Toys one, where children flock in their hundreds to a man’s house when he says the words “Smyths Toys”), but I have some grievances right now.

Coca-Cola, a brand who puts authenticity forward (such as with their current slogan of “Real Magic,” a phrase they have trademarked), have recently been experimenting with generative AI.

Which brings me to my main point. Coca-Cola’s famous “Holidays are Coming” ad is shown every year on TV, but that’s about to change, as this year, there will be a new version of the famous advert made entirely using AI.

The ad is visually impressive, but the scenes with animals have that uncanny morphing feel most AI-generated video has. Plus, it’s made with generative AI, for crying out loud. AI is very bad. I dislike AI.

In short, don’t drink Coke, drink milk and Pepsi, and support animators of all kinds! Yeah! Together, we will make the animation world fair!
